About Me

Clarinetist and teaching artist, Elizabeth Leehey brings passion and expertise to every lesson. As a music educator with more than thirty years of experience, Elizabeth has developed a style of teaching that both inspires and challenges students to develop individuality and expressiveness in their music making, along with a high level of technical ability on their instrument. Her students have been accepted to perform with many prestigious ensembles including the National Wind Ensemble, Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, New England Conservatory Youth Wind Ensemble, and All-State Bands and Orchestras, and they have been frequent winners of concerto competitions, scholarships and awards.

Elizabeth has taught master classes at Diller-Quaile School of Music in New York City, Roosevelt International Academy in Providence, RI, and Rivers School Conservatory in Weston, MA and has served on the faculties of prominent music schools including Boston Conservatory, Rivers School Conservatory, Concord Conservatory and Walnut Hill School. She currently maintains an active private clarinet studio in Sharon, MA.

Elizabeth has an extensive performing background as a solo recitalist and chamber musician and has presented recitals on concert series at universities, music schools and art centers in the Unites States and in Spain. Through her love of Spanish music, she performed as clarinetist and arranger with Boston Arts Consort for several years, collaborating on original arrangements for clarinet, voice and piano of classical and traditional music of Spain, including Zarzuela, (Spanish comic opera).

Elizabeth served as the Director of the Canton American Legion Community Band from 2016 - 2020. The band continues to rehearse year-round and performs several concerts in the spring, summer and winter each year. The band welcomes all interested musicians to join. Elizabeth’s many interests include Alexander Technique and it's application to music making. She is a devoted student of the Technique and has gained extensive experience through private lessons and intensives with teachers in USA, Greece and Spain. Through this work, she continues to makes new discoveries in her own playing and teaching.
